Many of you have said that you have had life-changing events happen at Shadow Woods fests. Relationships of all kinds have been fostered on the grounds of our festivals.
One of the greatest moments shared by many was the Saturday night Woodland stage performance by a dear soul who, for many years, was a studio-only project. That year he had decided it was time to share his works live and we were honored to be among the first organizations to host him. Another transcendent moment was during our very first SWMF, with a hazy moon rising over the stage and through the clouds, as one of the country’s greatest atmospheric black metal bands closed out the Friday night field stage.
We are honored and excited to announce that both PANOPTICON and Falls of Rauros will return to headline in the woods of central Maryland in August 2020.
Both of these bands represent the heart of what Shadow Woods is all about: the beauty of nature combined with the power of the riff bringing people together to create lasting and transformative life experiences.

The fest will run a half-day on Friday, Aug 28 and a full day on Saturday, Aug 29. There will be more than 20 bands announced in the coming weeks and months. There is no rush. The lineup, as always, will reflect some of the best that underground music has to offer. We hope that you will join us for our triumphant return to the woods.Â
